Hot Chip’s fifth album is a sincere, expansive declaration of romantic love.

Stream In Our Heads now.

I don’t think I’ve talked about it too much here, but my love for Hot Chip is expansive and I’m always delighted to discover a new album is out.

Each week this summer, the All Songs Considered crew will post a survey to determine the albums we can all agree on.

VOTE!

This is a cool thing to look at. I’m disappointed in people for not having really heard Dave Brubeck’s Time Out. Over 50%!

Closing out my day’s RT blogging with newer stuff and far superior video/audio quality than anything else today. It is, of course, NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. I’m a huge fan of this series, but somehow managed to miss RT’s performance even though they apparently had Nick Lowe in just prior(!!).

Last night on The Voice, Adam Levine had a plan. It was a crazy plan: To have contestant Tony Lucca nonironically cover Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time.”

Marc Hirsh says, “But what’s weirdly ironic is that it’s this very reluctance to touch it that’s somehow turned ‘…Baby One More Time’ from the wellspring of modern girl-pop into something of a dude-rock standard.”

Should We Kill The Dollar Bill?

Yes. I have opined on this before. And before.

This 14-Year-Old Girl Just Bought A House In Florida

When a 14-year old can afford to buy a home, does that mean home prices have hit bottom? Willow Tufano is a child of the housing collapse. Her real estate agent mom scrapes together a living in Florida by selling foreclosed properties. Willow found her own niche scavenging abandoned washes, dryers and furniture from her mother’s properties and selling them on Craigslist. In just six months, Willow saved enough money to buy a two-bedroom fixer upper for $12,000. -Chana Joffe-Walt (Photo by Chana Joffe-Walt/NPR)

Wait. Where is this? I’ll have $12,000 by the end of the year. Could I possibly buy a house fifteen years earlier than I expected?

You’ve Never Heard Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’?!

This is a recurring series in which we ask our unimaginably young interns to review classic albums they’ve never heard before. Dan Raby, the latest intern for All Songs Considered, takes a first look at Buckley’s 1994 classic album.

My second favorite thing ASC does, right after Name That Drum Fill!

On this edition of All Songs Considered, listeners dedicate songs to the people they love.

For the drive home tonight. Because my car needs more emotional build-up.

Philip Glass turns 75 tomorrow. Impossible, you say? Given his two dozen operas, reams of orchestral music, virtually uncountable film scores and scads of projects in every discipline, isn’t he like 90 or 100 or 110? Or, judging by his kaleidoscopic connections and collaborators, isn’t he somewhere between 20 and 50, hunkered down among hipsters and plotting his next move toward musical world domination? (Photo by Stewart Cohen)

Hear our essential Glass playlist.

I love me some Philip Glass.

An Illustrated Guide To Weirdly Wonderful Florida: Becky’s thoughts on oranges, Polaroids and Mickey Mouse after a week on assignment. What are your thoughts on the Sunshine State?

This made me smile enormously. Especially because I live a stone’s throw away from Kiss-a-me and Gatorland.

Match the intro or fill to the album it’s from.

These drum fill quizzes are the BEST.

Tiny Desk Concert: Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile And Stuart Duncan

Enjoy our own little “Goat Rodeo” session, with a lot of jokes and laughs, a broken mandolin string, a little retuning, and some terrific music that’s fun, intricately built and — thankfully — impossible to pigeonhole.

You can also watch a video of the performance.

This just made my day.
