It’s like you can visibly see my do not care sliding scale as the semester progresses. It’s been on the end of GIVE LOTS OF FUCKS all semester up until last week. It’s in free fall now. I will take a solid B in this Lit in Early Childhood Ed class instead of the A+ I would have gotten if I’d done the last two assignments. But my amount of do not care is at its lowest. So. Do not care.

Oh hell.

Fuck this 450 word essay. The assignment:

11 B.Thinking critically about biographies

Read two biographies written for children about the same person, such as Christopher Columbus. Describe your reactions to the cover, chapter titles, pictures, and content (facts, bias, writing style), and rate their usefullness, readabiltiy, and overall quality.

I’ll take the B+ instead of an A-, thanks.

Someone, somewhere on tumblr, posted about a snippet of a report of a Victorian murder. The excerpt:

A shocking child murder has just been committed at Nottingham. A girl named Wragg left the workhouse there on Saturday morning with her young illegitimate child. The child was soon afterwards found dead on Mapperly Hills, having been strangled. Wragg is in custody.

I wish I could remember where I’d seen this. Because now it’s in my lit crit text. School work just follows me around everywhere.

- the most confusing Coleridge line you will ever read (from “Kubla Khan”)

Immediate mental image:

(via gingerhaze)

UGH. COLERIDGE IS EVERYWHERE. JUST GO AWAY. (My schoolwork is tormenting me with it’s vastness and insistence that I get it done because I have a 7am shift tomorrow and can’t turn it in when everyone else will at noon.) AHHHHHHHHHH.

I am not allowed to go to sleep before I post this assignment. I must remember that it’s due in the middle of my shift tomorrow and NO, I cannot post it then.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Can’t sleep. Anxious about physically returning to class a year and a half later. I’m not sure if I’m excited anxious or worried anxious. Either way, can’t sleep. Have a National.

Week’s assignment for Lit in Early Childhood Ed: Analyzing Animal Fantasy

Which means answering such questions as:

  • How believable are the anthropomorphic animals?
  • Does the protagonist possess an appropriate mix of both animal and human characteristics?
  • Does the book tell a good story that children will enjoy?
  • Is the plot credible?

Imma watch some F1 on Speed. Even if it is just practice.

Can’t log in to the Oxford Biblical Studies site again.

Bible as Lit final is NOW. Why does this always have to happen after 5pm. Y’know. WHEN THEY CLOSE AND DON’T RESPOND TO HELP QUESTIONS?

You know what’s not helpful?

The Oxford Biblical Studies site locking me out the day before one of my exam windows. Seriously, what does “A valid subscription exists, but your concurrency limit has been exceeded” even mean?? I’m taking it to mean something like you have too many sessions going on at once, but I don’t! I just have the one! Which I don’t even have now!

Excuse me, what?

“Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his children, because he was the son of his old age; and he had made him a long robe with sleeves.”

Did robes not have sleeves back then? Were the sleeved robes short? Also, I’m getting confused with the pronouns here. Who made whom the long robe with sleeves?

From a purely literary standpoint, I’m really starting to hate the Bible. From a religious standpoint, I still don’t get it.

Frustrations with the Bible:

In addition to the never-ending pages of genealogy, pick a name and stick to it! You can’t change Jacob to Israel and then not call him Israel until you’re almost in Bethlehem. And once you’ve started calling him Israel, don’t backtrack and call him Jacob again!

Ok. I will finish Genesis tonight. And then read all of Exodus tomorrow. I will. Stupid test deadlines.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I just looked at Exodus. Bacon almighty, that’s long. I’m just going off to sulk in a corner, don’t mind me. Sulking in a corner has been interpreted by my parents as an opportune time to co-opt my sharper eyes to book vacation tickets. For a vacation I will not be going on. Because I work.

Random Thoughts of the Day Post because I don’t want to inundate you.

  • I have 7200 songs in my iTunes library. I’m making the executive decision to no longer be a completionist. I don’t like the Queen plus a whole bunch of other people songs? Deleting them.
  • Allergy doctor visit today. Apparently I have very few allergies, but the ones I do have are at the highest possible end of severity. Good to know. Thanks, genes.
  • I feel like I’m being awfully girly with my posting today. And awfully wordy. Maybe I’m just trying to avoid schoolwork. *shifty eyes* It wouldn’t be the first time I shirked in favor of piddling around the internet.
  • This Magic game. Holy bacon this Magic game. Now how about we play like this every night and not just against the nobody teams?
